The ONLY part the release bearing plays is to facilitate changing of the gears.Youve posted a few questions about noise and lack of drive, noise, yes could be the release but lack of drivr has nothing to do with it.
Drive is transmited through the flywheel to the clutch friction material, then radial springs thake some of the shock out of the shift and transmit the drive to the clutch centre boss, the splined drive ares then transfers the drive down the gearbox main shaft.
So if the gearbox is out so you can check the release bearing then take the clutch disc out and check the radial springs and the centre boss.
If you have rebuilt it then jack up 1 road wheel with the box in 2nd and turn the road wheel,if alls well in the box the differential should transmit the drive up through the clutch and thurn the engine over.
