Citroen Xsara hazard warning lights wont switch off

Car: Citroen Xsara
Variant: 2002 1.6 lx model
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
hi this is my first time on this site, i have a citreon xsara 1.6 lx which has just starting to have electrical problems. firstly the central locking is not working either from the key or the key fob although all the doors unlock manually, on opening the drivers door no courtesy lights work. when turning on the ingition the hazard warning lights come on and stay on (can not be switched off hazard warning switch does not light up)and the engine starts fine (the boot unlocks as it should). i have an independant mechanic look at it and he suggested that it was an ECU problem but did not know which one or where it was situated. could anyone please help me as i can not use my car!

it def wont be an ecu fault, possible fault for c/ locking may be a solonoid which will be located in drivers door at lock or a wire loose/broken or relay/fuse ,and similiar solution for your hazard/lights, plus check all your earths on the car, hope this may help

Could possibly be BSI he was referring to? This explains reset procedure which sometimes cures various faults .

Citroen BSI (Body control) failure

Peugeot and Citroen BSI (Body Control) units are very prone to failure. Symptoms include no indicators, ignitions lights on with no key, wildly incorrect cluster readings and complete non start. We can fix these units with a 2 year warranty. These units are own unit rebuilds which removes the need for coding.

Before sending the unit try the BSI Reset procedure as this may cure your faults:

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

Remove key open & close door test central locking system.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

Hi after reseting the bsi with the procedure above the hazards are still on.
what i have noticed though wether it has any relevance or not is that on appraoching the car the central locking on the key fob does not work, i unlock the car with the key (only drivers door unlocks no central locking) no interior lights even when switched on manually!.
when i put key in ignition and turn ignition on interior lights work as they should central locking works on all doors (but not from key fob)but both indicators are flashing and the time / date and temperature readout has reset itself.

i hope this will give you a clearer view of my fault it all seems to be linked to a missing constant live feed to all the system. is this a BSI module fault or simply lost power (all the fuses have been check!)

Does this re-set work for all Xpics? Mine is a 2006 HDi 110 Exclusive. As well as a problem I have with completely dead wing mirrors, this morning whilst I was driving along the hazard lights came on by themselves. To stop them I had to park up, switch off and them press the hazard switch on the dash.
