Citroen Xsara stereo/speaker "pops" off when turning left

Variant: 1.6 petrol
Model Year: 2002

PLEASE HELP!!!!

The problem i have is with my stereo/speakers on my citroen xsara,when i turn the car to the left the speakers make a loud "pop" noise and the c.d player/radio cuts out, it has now got even worse as when i go over a bump in the road it also happens.....it also happens if i drive without the stereo on you can still hear the loud "pops"
Its begining to drive me mad ...please help!!!!

remove the radio and check the radio wiring harness is not damaged or trapped behind the dash,make sure there are no bare wires or loose connections

As it seems to happen mostly when you turn the steering , possibly fault at steering wheel audio controls ?
