Citroen Xsara changing a door mirror

Car: Citroen Xsara
Variant: 1.6 sx
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi
some hit and run goon totally destroyed my offside electric door mirror, and rather than pay to have a replacement fitted( my excess is more than the fitted cost) i wish to try and replace it myself.

my question is how easy is it to get at the loom connectors,i guess that prising off the black plastic trim will expose whatever is fixing the mirror to the door but i wondered if i have to take the door liner off to expose the wiring.

thanks for any help you can offer

Hi Mike, Im not really sure on Citreon's but the usual proceedure is: Prise/Remove the plastic cover on the inside of the mirror (be careful as these can snap) and this should reveal the locating nut and wiring loom. Remove the nut with i think an 8mm or 10mm socket remembering to hold onto the mirror whilst doing this otherwise it will fall off (7 years bad luck). Simply install the new one as the old one came off. Let me know if you get any probs.

thanks for your help, removing the plastic cover reveals 3 bolt heads(one slightly beneath the door liner) with star head(torkx?)screwdriver slots.

the wiring loom plug is easily accesable.

now i just need to get to halfords for the bit adaptors and order a mirror
