Isn't it amazing how car manufacturers keep changing the way they assemble their products? Why???!!!
The video mentioned above seems to apply to a different car from mine, possibly the earlier model, because I can see only one hole in the back of the wheel, and when I put a screwdriver in there the horn sounds (!) -- but more importantly the bloke in the video mumbles something about removing the instrument binnacle above the wheel, which my car doesn't have (the instrumentation is all in the centre top of the dash).
Also to see the back of the wheel properly I'd have to first remove the covers surrounding the steering column, something he doesn't mention.
Then the other two suggestions above also don't hold water for my car either. No other holes or recesses or any other ways I can see to remove or release anything...
The exact model name of my car is also a bit of a mystery and this may be part of the reason I can't make any of the above instructions "fit". My registration papers just say Xsara Picasso, but there seem to be a lot of options listed in various places, with fancy-sounding third names and random letters all of which mean nothing to me. Is there such a model as just plain Xsara Picasso?
I'm not in a hurry to take the car to the agents or even my friendly neighbourhood mechanic, since the reason I want to take off the wheel is to replace a part I bought 2nd-hand - Citroen wanted something between £300 and £350 for the indicator / wiper / radio stalk (yes, really!) which I got for around £70, with postage. There are not many garages that will fit parts you have sourced yourself, and if they do they are inclined to add a penalty to their labour charge...
