You will need to strip down door to see what has broken or come off . Might just be a circlip , usually find parts lying in bottom of door .This describes how to replace door if needed but will help you to dismantle for examination .
Replacing Door Lock
Youll need star screwdrivers or sockets that can be extended, small flat bladed screwdrivers, long nose pliers, something broad and thin for prising the interior panel, with its lugs away from the inner door frame. Good torch, a second set of hands.
.Wind down the window.
.Prise off small interior trimmer panel
.Prise off speaker trim, remove (?4) screws, pull out speaker and disconnect from loom.
.Pull off window winder knob and trim plate its splined and just pulls off.
.Using a very small screw driver in the small square hole (underneath handle) carefully prise out the door pull handle centre trim.
.The remove star screws securing the base part to the door frame.
.Now the door panel can be removed: Start by using a two flat levers (or thin screwdrivers) to lever it away - starting at the bottom inner corner. You may find, as I did, that some of the panel lugs remain in the door frame. Carefully remove them and re-position in the panel. When all lugs are free lift it from below to disengage the two lugs above the door opening handle.
.The plastic shield can now be gently and carefully prised away from the bead of adhesive unless youre replacing it. Patience works wonders here.
.Make a few notes at this point: slide the door opening handle towards front of car (has two lugs), rotate 90 degrees and disconnect the linkage.
.Fiddly bit next - note positions and remove the foam panel, wiring harness lug, and plastic shield. These are held on by a lugs and metal plates, and, I think, a securing screw.
.Disengage the link rod.
.Remove the three scews securing the lock to the door.
.Really fiddly bit now: Disengage the interior handle linkage from the lock assembly. The rod clip rotates and clips to the linkage after its fitted into a hole in the lock
.Disengage the exterior handle link rod from the lock. This has a clip like the interior link rod.
.The lock assembly can be pulled down and away. A bit of wiggling may be required and if you havent already done so, the loom can be pulled away from the lock
.The window channel can be pulled towards you to help in the link removal process.
.Connect the loom to the new lock to check it works before doing anything else: youll have to manually operate the new lock as if door closed to do this.
.Swap parts from old lock to the new one and refit it.
.Connect the link rods and loom before fitting the three outer screws. Long nose pliers help here, or long thin hands.
.Re-fit in reverse order.
.Time - Up to 3 hours (take your time don't rush)
