Citroen Xsara Picasso won't start

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 2.0 L deisel HDI
Model Year: 2002

Girlfreind ran low on diesel. Filled up and bled,started perfectly. But when tried to restart,no chance. Have checked and found no fuel being pumped up to high pressure pump, diags on computer give P1517 alarm.
But local garage not sure what this is-ie could be many thing. Anybody any ideas....

if you have a supply and good earth at low pressure pump in tank then i suspect the low pressure pump has failed!
