Hot start Nothing, I have had 3 starter motors put on it now 1 band new 2 second hand, they all get very hot after a short drive, the new on and 1 of the second hand starters were destroyed inside bits of copper and debris, and they smelt burnt.
No one has any idea of what is wrong mechanics Etc.

Check wiring at starter , battery earth and any other earths , especially from engine / gearbox to body , also check your battery voltage

Thank you, i have new battery on, and after a run the starter motor is very hot, could this be anything to do with the crank shaft sensor as this was replaced almost when this fault started,
Also on the last starter motor a quick BATTERY CHARGE FAULT message flashed on then went off, there is nothing wrong with the alternator or battery and no codes came up on the scanner.

Check your alternator charging rate in case overcharging . Not known a crank sensor to cause that fault . Check ignition switch is not faulty .

Hello and Thank you again, how would the alternator be able to cause a problem with the starter Motor? It's just that I can't think of a link between the two of them? As we tested the alternator a couple of months ago before we purchased a new battery, it was running about 14v output, I can understand what you are saying about the ignition though, it could be engaging the starter and not disengaging it, I think? have I got that Correct?
With many Thanks John..

Also does a starter motor get very hot when normal driving is being done?

Correct on starter . An over charging alternator can fry the battery and damage electrics / wiring .
