Citroen Xsara Picasso noisey transmission/power steering?

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 2ltr HDI
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I would appreciate help to identify a problem. There is a drone sound akin to excessive road noise which gets noticably louder above 40mph, yet dissappears altogether at 74mph and the car drives smoothly. Also the noise goes away at lower speeds whenever the steering wheel is turned slightly right, but not when it is turned left. The noise remains even when the clutch is dipped and the car coasts.
The wheel balance has been checked and ia okay.

Sounds like a wheel bearing and sound disappears when load transferred from that wheel / side .
