Citroen Xsara Picasso gear stick

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 1.6
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
This is difficult to explain, I was hoping I could upload a photo I've taken. 😞.

Oh well here goes. My gear stick sounded different all of a sudden, like metal rattling when moved side to side. I lifted the cover up to the gear knob so I could see inside. There is a circle type clip or spring around the stick and whatever it is that moves gears but I can move it about freely.

Any advice appreciate, thank you 😌.
