Citroen Xsara Picasso mot criteria

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 1.6i sx manual
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The car has just failed the MOT (7 days ago) on the nsr door being intermittant in opening/closing with the handle. It was iffy central locking wiring to the door. The door was secure, just wouldnt always open.

When did the rear door operation become part of an MOT test? I cant find any reference to it anywhere-inc on this site??

Hope someone can shed some light?

Its worth noting i have now fixed the door, i hadnt before because i didnt realise it was a failure.

B. Doors
1. Open and close the driver’s and passenger’s doors. Check that:
a. each door latches securely in the closed position
b. the driver’s and front passenger doors can be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle
c. any other passenger doors can be opened from outside the vehicle.

2. Check door hinges, catches and pillars for presence, security and condition.

C. Passenger Entrance and Exit Doors (Additional checks for Class 5 only)

1. Check passenger compartment entrance and exit doors for damage and deterioration.

2. Check the operation of the emergency and remote controls (if fitted) for any passenger entrance or exit door.

3. Check the operation of any passenger ‘door open’ warning device (if fitted).

Possibly the reason for refusal is due to being unable to check other items due to the door being jammed,as only the front doors require to open from inside and outside.

One example is if car involved in accident and unable to open door to rescue or people to escape .

Yes you are right ,it,s only specialist vehicles that are exempt from it such as rally car,s specifically built to that purpose. Mot criteria has changed due to new e.u.regulation,s obviously it,s just not my area of expertise apologies for poor advice given, Always check the manual I guess in future.
