Citroen Xsara Picasso diesel fumes coming from engine

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 1.8D
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi all,

I noticed diesel fumes were getting into the cabin when stopped at lights and upon investigating I found fumes coming out of the engine. Here is a vid of the problem.

Other than the fumes the car seems okay - no other leaks I have noticed and temperatures are ok.

Does anyone know what may be causing this problem and what I can do about it?

Cheers,
Colin

check for exhaust leak at manifold or exhaust front pipe joint check for diesel leak in engine bay also check fuel injector leak off pipes for leaks used to be a common problem

That's the seals for the injectors blowing past, what your selling is combustion gas.
You need the seals renewed, and if really bad the injector seats recut,
Oh and try not to run it like this as there will be a build up of carbon around the injectors and if this is bad it will need hydraulic pullers to get the sods out!!
I really mean it,Ive seen this wreck a head ans the damage inflicted on it to remove the injectors can kill it!
Good vid though.
