Citroen Xsara Picasso temp sensor, engine emmissions light & intermittent fuel starvation

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Variant: 2.0 HDi
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Hi,

The following 3 symptoms all started at the same time so I am guessing they are related:

1)The outside air temperature is reading about 10deg high.
2)The engine emmisions light (far right of dashboard) is permanently lit.
3)Increased engine load (i.e. uphill on motorway) leads to reduced fuel flow (mpg improves and power drops away). This seems to bottom out at a reduced speed for a while and comes back to normal.

Any help greatfully appreciated. (beer available in Suffolk).

Thanks in advance
Paul

Outside temp sensor nothing to do with fueling,as to why the eml is on that'll need code reading, the fact that the mpg increases is down to less fuel avilable, could be the third piston solenoid, could be anything, code read it,parts are just too dear to screw around,if your local dealer charges £80 for a diagnostic it's still a third of the cost of one injector, well worth the cash, just make sure you get a FULL code print out in case you want to get the repair done elsewhere.
