While heating up the ECU with a hair dryer "might " help if there's a water problem I won't help if there's water inside,
quite the opposite!
I think I recall your last post and I'm pretty sure back then I stated that the ECU controls the Ground side of the relay that feeds the pump.
That hasn't changed,
The ECU grounds out the relay,
this activates the relay which switches on and powers the pump.
Now as your pump sometimes works the pump and wiring are most likely ok.
New relay takes that out of the picture so that leaves an intermittent fault internal to the ECU.
Providing the ECU power and grounds are good.
And again you failed to state the correct details to point you to which ECU terminals to check.
ENGINE SIZE/TYPE AND FUEL TYPE!!!!!
The wiring isn't the same for a 1.4 to a 2.0 D.
Either submit said details or bite the bullet and send the ECU off for testing.
