Citroen Saxo jumping out of second gear

my car is a 02 1.1 citroen saxo i can drive using gear 1 , 3 , 4 and 5 but when i put the car into second it jumps back out

Could be a syncromesh fault with the 2nd gear this would req. stripping the box to fix it or adjustment issue of gear selector best getting a mechanic to test and report findings.
