Citroen C5 self-opening tailgate lid

Car: Citroen C5
Variant: Mk II 2L HDi Auto 2004-8
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Mainly occurs in cold weather when the metal has shrunk fractionally.

Releasing the central locking with the remote plip not only open releases locks, but also pops the boot lid open. It may need to be slammed a bit to get it to close fully.

It will occasionally do the same simply by opening the driver's door from inside.

I have already repositioned the striker staple on the hatch frame - should I slacken the fit still further or look to buy a new lock?
