Citroen C5 fuel

Car: Citroen C5
Variant: 1.6 hdi estate VTX+
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Wont start after being parked up for 5-6 hrs
Primer bulb empty and would not prime i assume a non return valve inside not wetted so would not seal.
dissconected return line fixed clear pie a nd sucked.
Fuel appeared and the primer bulb then works.
Drove 20 miles parked up 4 hrs car would not start without help from primer bulb which once again felt dry.
Am assuming as there is a small vent line to the pump area that if there is a NRV in the primer that was not workeng the vent would allow fuel to return to the tank.
Any help would be greatly appreciated please.
regards Tony

there may be a nrv in the filter housing/primer bowl it doesent take a lot for them to play up try sourcing a second hand one and try your luck
check your fuel injector link pipes they can perish and cause fuel to run back causing starting probs
