Citroen C4 seized engine

Car: Citroen C4
Variant: Auto
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I recently got stuck in Motorway traffic with insuficient oil. I managed to get to a petrol station, but could only get mineral oil (suitable for petrol engines). On setting off again the warning lights continued forcing me to pull over again. Unfortunately I was unable to start the car again and it seems like my engine has seized. There was slight smoking from the oil tank and the ingition ticks over, but doesn't start. Does anyone have any idea whether this is something that can be repaired, as the car is only 5/6 years old. I got RAC pick-up but it wasn't a mechanic so I didn't get any significant diagnosis of the problem (other than it doesn't sound good!)

You probably can get it repaired , but whether it's economical to do so , depends on finding out exactly what the damage is subject to an examination / stripdown .Might be cheaper and better to fit recon. engine or a s/hand unit, that is if engine is knackered .You really need to get it checked out to see what is needing to be done ,but doesn't sound good , all for a few litres of oil .

if the engine is turning over then it is`nt siezed,it might be possible that you over filled the engine oil and therefor the engine hydrauliced bending the valves,in which case you need to carry out in depth diagnosis such as checking cylinder compressions and start checking cambelt timing before stripping and investigating

It may jut be sticking lifters as low oil and incorrect oil used to top up.
