If scanned with correct diagnostic equipment it should show fault code which any competent mechanic would be able to understand . It could be something simple like a transmission safety neutral switch which prevents you starting the car in gear . You could try moving the gear selector whilst trying to start the car . If that fails you will need it scanned . If you have any auto gearbox specialist in your area they might be able to diagnose quicker and possibly cheaper . There are also quite a few fuses in different locations covering the auto transmission you might want to check first
