Citroen C3 oil pressure light

Car: Citroen C3
Variant: 1.2
Model Year: 2018
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Around 2 weeks ago, a red “oil pressure problem: stop driving” light appeared. Almost 40k miles. Have had the car since Feb - cash payment, warranty ran out after 6 months. Was serviced in Oct 22. Mechanic unsure of problem & advised to take into citeron/Peugeot garage. Cannot take me until mid Jan. any advice?

It could be something simple as a faulty oil pressure sender unit or something really major . But cant be ignored and unsafe to drive until identified and rectified . Are there no other dealerships you could try and ask to squeeze you in for even just checking out car , though this is a bad time of the year to get work done ..

Hi! Thanks for your reply.
I have already been to two mechanics in my local town. They both advised they weren’t sure on the Citroen engine & haven’t had this problem before. He suggested we could change oil filters, amongst various other things but advised this could cost a lot of money and not actually fit the problem. On the diagnostic, it came up with I think 17 electrical faults. He said he was not comfortable for me to pay out money for him to attempt to fix it and then still the light come on. He said he thought there may be a problem in the ? Sump (sorry for my lack of explaining, I’m a 22yo F who has no clue about cars!) he contacted the local Citroen garage and spoke to someone & then advised me to book in for further diagnostic to see if they could pinpoint the problem. They had no availability until 17th of Jan but advised there is a Peugeot garage (apparently they are the same engine?) who have availability on the 03rd of Jan. the car seems to drive fine (to my knowledge of cars). I thought it may have been due to the cold weather as it has only happened recently. If I drive long distance (which I do as I commute to Edinburgh for work - from N.Yorkshire) the light will turn off and no problems until the car is cold & hasn’t been used, then the light will reappear.

That's some commute to work !!! , especially with the rail strike not helping you either as an option . It's good you have honest mechanics and the oil / filter change certainly would be an option if you didn't also have all the fault codes .Usually oil lights tend to come on more as engine heats up and stay on there after and often also have engine noise / rattle . You could take the earlier appointment and hopefully it's just a faulty sensor causing all the problems and dependent on results , take it from there . Wish I could be more definitive with an answer and say it was o.k to use but would hate for anything to happen to you or car in doing so .
