Citroen C2 unfindable oil leak

Car: Citroen C2
Variant: 1.1 design
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have a citroen c2 1.1 06 model. I have had an oil leak for roughly three months. The oil leak has caused the clutch to go. I took the car to have the clutch replaced and the rear seal was replaced to fix the oil leak however this did not work. The top of the engine is dry and the underside is coated in oil. Apparently when the gearbox was removed the oil absolutely poured out. I have taken the car to another mechanic who still reckons this is the rear seal. Everyone tells me it is the rear seal though I dont want to pay to have this replaced again and still have an oil leak afterwards. Can anyone make any suggestions as to what else this could be? Has anyone had similar problems?

That,s annoying that you already paid for this repair and it has not worked,do you have any warranty on the repair?

If it's not the rear crankshaft seal incorrectly fitted and still leaking it may be the gearbox input bearing and oil seal .This shows you what's needed .

I have been round to the guy who fitted the seal and he has said that he wouldnt look at the car again for free. He showed me his reciept for the seal, which had my car reg on so he definately fitted it. I am unsure about a warranty for the seal, however he told me there is no warranty for the clutch as there is still an oil leak (the one that he didn't fix).

Thank you for this suggestion. I don't have much of a clue about cars, so I will ask the guy who next tries to fix the leak to take a look at this. :)

He was paid to locate and fix oil leak ,he has not done that. The receipt for the oil seal does not prove that it was fitted correctly or that was the source / cause of oil leak. That should have been done first before new clutch fitted and probably ruined if contaminated again by oil.You should not have to pay for his wrong diagnosing/incompetence of what was needed. That is my opinion on known facts .

as above you sure it is not from gearbox input shaft oil seal if from engine rear seal again it must have been badly fitted and your garage should sort it out for you did they check engine breather system is not blocked other leaks low down could be oil pressure switch or oil filter housing but that would not get in gear box bell houseing
