Citroen Berlingo footrest problem...

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Variant: 625 L1 1.6HDii
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have recently bought a new shape Citroen Berlingo van and am generally delighted with it. The one problem I have is lack of leg room. In particular the footrest cuts in from the left of the footwell and pushes my clutch foot over to the right. This is causing me knee problems and is becoming a worry.

Would it be possible for my friendly Citroen dealer to remove the footrest or is it an integral part of the van?

Many thanks for any ideas / answers.

Not really familar with that vehicle but can't imagine why you shouldn't be able to carry this out .As you suggest , Citroen dealer or possibly local bodyshop should be able to advise you or give reason why not . Interested to know result .

Thanks. The van's going in on Monday to the local dealer -- they weren't sure if they could do anything, but said 'bring it in'. Will update later on Monday.

Problem sorted. The footrest was just a piece of cardboard, apparently, and came out quite easily.

Still, this was a strange design issue. The Citroen Berlingo is a beautifully thought out van with lots of great design features. I really don't understand, therefore, why it has that huge, clunky footrest, which really resticts the already limited footroom and offsets your feet slightly to the right.

Anyway, I'm pleased it's sorted.

I'm just about to buy a Peugeot Partner Tepee with the same concern. Can I ask whether removing the molded footrest solved the leg room issue? I do have bad knees.
