Citroen Berlingo turns over but won't start

After a complete head job,I can turn the engine over,it fires but just will not start and seems to run the battery down very quickly
The one other thing is the engine smokes whilst is being turned over if anyone has any bright ideas, I'd really like to hear them.

Check earth wires especially any from power unit to body . Battery got to be up to scratch charge wise also .Try engine easy start

Hi thanks for that, I’ve put a new earth wire on from engine to frame, charged the battery, I put heater plugs on it fires well when being turned over, but just won’t start, then after about 10 seconds the starter motor cuts out, when it’s turning over sometimes it smokes but not sure where it’s coming from ,it’s had a full head rebuild, cheers.
