Citroen Berlingo engine turns over will not start, no switchs work

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Variant: 1.6 HDI
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hello all,
I have a 2007 Citroen 1.6 hdi Berlingo . The car turns over but will not start and no switches work other than hazards. I started the car steered to turn of the drive and the whole thing came to a halt. On taking the plastic from around the steering column I found two wires had been rubbing on the metal work and were worn through . I have taped these back up checked the fuses but it still has the same problem.

Sounds like a main power failure issue or earth ,would start with basics check ,wonder what those rubbed through wires do ,and any fault codes?

Thanks for getting back to me.. I had the RAC out who told me it was the body control unit so I changed that but still have exactly the same fault. While that was out I checked each of the large fuses under neath all were ok. The only fault he pulled from his plugin unit was the fact that there was no signal from the crank sensor. The rubbed through wires were a yellow and a green and yellow from the bottom of the column mounted switch gear. indicators/ lights and windscreen wipers. I did try installing an earth from the battery to the body/engine.

Faulty crank sensor or wiring will stop car starting
