Citroen Berlingo excessive smoke and engine very lumpy at idle

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Variant: 1.9 diesel van
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, I have just picked my van up from the MOT garage and it passed with flying colours but, on driving my van home the engine felt very lumpy especially at idle and large clouds of white smoke was bellowing from the exhaust pipe, but only at idle too. It was running great before the MOT. can anyone tell me what suddenly has gone wrong with my van please

Mot for a diesel involve \a full throttle engine run,
it checks for pump operation and tail pipe smoke.
And it sounds like you have an injector failure,
no turbo fitted to those models.
Bad luck for you is there's a disclaimer printed on the test form stating that the vehicle must be fit for test so the testing station isn't liable for any damage incurred during the test.
But I'd still be inclined to call the test center and explain the problem/history.
This is not a complex engine and they might be inclined to help.
maybe not but it's worth a shot..
I recall a good number of engines blowing up from timing belt failure when this test came out a few years ago,
