Citroen Berlingo ignition problem

Variant: 1.9 diesel van
Model Year: 2000

Hi, the key goes in the ignition ok and turns, the lights on the dash light up and the key springs back like it should do ... But thats it nothing happens its dead. The battery is fine . When it was running ok the key could be removed even when the engine was still running and often fell out on its own , when it was still running..... Thanks ... steve

Ignition switches are a common fault .If battery o.k , check if power going to starter .

Y ES POWER GOIN TO STARTER

If power at starter , check earth from engine to body .If that's ok , could be knackered starter .

Thanks for your advice .Found out its the starter had to hit it with a hammer to get it to work again but not sure how long this is goin to last so ive got one off EBAY ,lets just hope its the right one ........Thanks again ............

On many a breakdown call I was on , hitting the starter got them going again as a temp fix . Fingers crossed you get correct part.
