Citroen Berlingo not starting

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Variant: 1.4i multispace
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
About 2 months ago, got an alarm on the display, that according to the book meant that the side door was open, engine would turn over, but not start, apparently the ECU had forgotten the keys code???!!!
Went to citroen they recoded the keys. Ran for 8 miles, parked it up. Tried to start it, same fault, back to citroen, now it was a defective battery, new battery fitted, started sometimes, then same fault. Now it was the transponder behind the ignition switch, new one fitted, started sometimes, then same fault. They sent a mail to citroen and 10 days later still not fixed.
Does anybody have even a hint of an idea/experience with this type of fault, so that I can point citroen in the correct direction?
