Chevrolet Kalos engine revs not dying

Car: Chevrolet Kalos
Variant: 1.4SX
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
In neutral, the engine responds as normal to the throttle.
Changing gear and the revs don’t die but hold at around 2000 - 3000.

Other than that, the car is running perfectly.

Any ideas???

Try cleaning idle air control valve or replacing if needed .Clean throttle body .

Thanks for this, but wouldn’t the revs stick when in neutral as well if it were the throttle body or aux air valve?
The car was serviced yesterday and the throttle body cleaned as part of that. The problem only occurs when changing gear, as the clutch is depressed, the engine revs rise and stick until the clutch is realeased again. At idle, the throttle can be depressed and the revs will rise until the throttle pedal is released and then the will die as normal.
I’m beginning to think the problem might be clutch orientated, either worn thrust bearing, or adjustment is needed. As is, the clutch pedal is riding a bit high. It’s my sons car so I can’t comment on the clutch ride height. I’m just worried that he’s going to burn his clutch out before much longer if this continues.

Never worked on one of these but a quick butchers at the manual shows up an intake manifold air control actuator.
Worth a look.

Hmm, where about is that situated? Does it have to be cleaned or replaced and...how easy is it to get at?

Cheers

It's toward the rear top of the engine somewhat right side.
As stated I've never worked on one of these and I'm only reading from a diagnostic manual drawing,
I'd suggest you buy a manual,
Anyway two wire connector red which is fused power and yellow which runs to the ECU.
I'm guessing the ECU grounds it possibly square wave if that helps,
I'd test it,
this is just a guess but bypassing hot wiring for power and ground ought to activate it to see/hear if the end moves in/out,

May be worth checking the clutch switch

Where is the clutch switch situated. Everyone I’ve spoken too, not on here, have thought like myself that it’s a clutch/ thrust bearing problem.
So thanks for your input.
