BMW 3 Series remote central locking

Car: BMW 3 Series
Variant: 320d se auto
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
When I press the button on my key ring to lock the car it works, however I was under the impression that the indicators were supposed to falsh and the car would make a noise to let you know that it was locked and the alarm was activated. Is this correct or not?
Also is the standard manufacturer fitted alarm a Thatcham Category 1 alarm or not? I again beleive that it should be.

My Volvo lights flash when i lock it, but there was a fault with the lock in the fuel cap and the lights didnt flash when i locked it, they also dont flash if one of the doors or the boot isn't shut properly. Maybe you have a faulty lock or sensor on one of the doors, boot, bonnet or fuel cap. Not sure about the Thatcham system though sorry
