BMW 3 Series knocking noise at front passenger side

Car: BMW 3 Series
Variant: 1.8ti Compact e36
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Whenever I go over a bump in the road there is a knocking from the front passenger side. I have had all the bushes replaced, but the car is still doing it and the tyre is only balding on the outside but not the inside. I have been told that the tyre could be due to the tracking, anyone got any ideas???

If you run your hand both ways along the tyre and it feels smooth one way but rough the other this is called feathering and is caused by in your case the alignment would be toed in.and require adjustment.your knocking could be a link rod or ballpoint ,or steering rod etc. you can check first for play at the road wheel by jacking it up and check for side to side and top to bottom movement.
