I have a friend with a new Volvo V50 that revs up to about 1500-2000 for about 30 seconds when the engine is started cold. He contacted a dealer who told him it was normal, and was the car heating the engine and topping up the battery. Maybe contact an Audi mechanic if you haven't already?

Does this happen when the car is just started up? If so it's perfectly normal. This can also happen when you turn on/up/down the air con when sat in traffic, my 911 does this. Whatever it is I don't think it's a major problem, get Audi to check it out for peace of mind.

We had 1 of these in the other week, the throtle body gets a layer of black soot inside, just take the T.B off (look it up on google or a similar website if you dont know how to take it off, its very very easy) and then wipe all the inside of it with a clean cloth being careful not to disturb the gakit and then just refit everything. this should solve the problem.
