Windscreen Wiper Motor

What is a Windscreen Wiper Motor?
The windscreen wiper motor is an electric motor that powers the windscreen wipers. They generally are able to move the wipers at varying speeds. Wiper motors use clever gearing technology to transfer the power to the wipers. They can last for a long time powering well over 1 million wipes of the windscreen.

A worn out wiper motor will often cause the wipers to work less effectively at removing water from the windscreen, it can also cause the wipers to work more slowly or at an erratic rate.
What problems can be caused by this part?

Windscreen Wipers not moving

The wipers are not moving at all, it can sound like they're trying to move but they don't actually move across the screen.

Windscreen Wipers not moving correctly

The windscreen wipers don't move as they're supposed to, the wiper blades are out of sync or get stuck at certain places.

Windscreen Wipers moving very slowly

The windscreen wipers move slower than usual, changing the speed setting makes no difference as they move slowly at any speed.

How much does it cost to replace the Windscreen Wiper Motor?
A wiper motor will generally cost from £125 to £150. It will usually need an hour or so of labour so that needs to be factored in on top.
