Kwik-Fit

After taking my Citroen Berlingo to Kwik-Fit Charles Street for an MOT and full service (at a total cost of £210), I was quoted over £400 for additional work on the rear brakes. I was told that the rear brakes were "disintigrating "and that brake fluid had leaked, necessitating a complete new rear brake setup. They said brake efficiency was at just 40%.

Not satisfied with Kwik-Fit Charles Street's explanation, I told them that I would have the additional work carried out elsewhere. When I asked for a refund of the money paid for the MOT, they said that the MOT had already been carried out and that my Berlingo had passed... with "disintigrating" brakes and brake efficiency at just 40%. I was confused...

When I took the Berlingo to a reputable local garage, I was quoted just £60 for work to replace the rear brake cylinders as a precautionary measure - I was told that they were "just starting to go". £60 versus over £400 quoted by Kwik-Fit Charles Street! I was also informed that Kwik-Fit Charles Street had loosened a "nipple" on the rear brakes to make them leak, thus making their condition aappear much worse at first glance.

Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend Kwik-Fit Charles Street to anyone. I will never use Kwik-Fit again because their customer service is disgusting. I think it speaks volumes that Kwik-Fit is (apparently) the only garage to offer staff a sales commission, thus encouraging them to rob customers blind!
