A J Ross

I've been using this garage for 2 years now after getting fed up with other garage mechanics patronising and charging me rip off prices. I've found A J Ross to be up front, have fast turnaround, quality work & reasonably priced. They're good at advising what may be needing done at a later date with no pressure to use them. I highly recommend them

I've used A&J Ross for many years and rate them very highly. As soon as any car I own is out of warranty it goes off to Ross's for all servicing and MOTs.

Alan is very knowledgeable and always happy to discuss things with you, and you get the impression that he and his team actually care about their customers, which is more than can be said for most main dealers after they've made a sale.

You are always told very clearly what needs done and what is 'advisory only' and can wait until next time.

Friendly and quick service, my MoT list is rarely long and generally sensible advisories.

People who talk of main dealer prices are missing the point, most MDs offer high prices and abysmal quality of work, a decent mechanic who actually knows what they are doing is more than worth paying for, not that I've ever been upset with an invoice from them.

As for the gent who can accurately estimate the length of time it takes to do a weld, I wonder that he didn't weld it himself, with his obvious knowledge of welding.

Recommended to me by a friend and I have had no complaints. They did various jobs/services on my previous car and all the work was done well, in good time and at prices i would expect. One time I had a sticking front brake caliper with the pad almost down to the metal, and I was going to be driving over to the West Coast that evening! So without an appointment I turned up at 07:30 in the morning to see if they could help. They had a garage full of vehicles and no free slots but they said to leave the car there and they would see if they could fit it in. The could, did and replaced the caliper by early afternoon, so that's what I call being really helpfull. Changed cars now but will be using them for any work or services required on this one.

Good service, main dealer prices.

Charged me 2hrs for a small amount of welding which I would estimate took under 1hr.

Great job. Friendly service and managed to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Will be going back.

Put the car in for the MOT and when it failed, they didn't give me the long list of advisaries and instead just told me the things that would really need done (so they didn't try to rip me off) and they managed to do the repairs etc the same day and I got my car back right away. Service was good, the prices were fair and they even fixed my wonky wing mirror for free! Would definitley recommend this place.

AJ Ross is a decent enough garage but they aren't shy with their prices.
The standard of work is high but they have charged me more than the Main dealer prices for services on several occasions.
I thought the whole idea about going to independent garages was to save money compared to main dealers!!!!
