I took my own car to L E Jackson’s for major front impact repair during Sep / Oct 2010. They did a reasonable job of the paintwork but failed to spot a leaking hose did not repair the air con properly and missed a battery support off the car. Nothing too major it just meant 2 wasted trips and 2 days off work to get the problems sorted.
Based on bodywork repairs I persuaded my wife to take her car to L E Jackson’s when somebody ran into the side.
This has turned out to be a big mistake. The car was returned with a very poor standard of repair. The paint finish had sanding marks visible through the paint, impurities under the finish and edges of the repair had been buffed back to primer.
I was far from happy with the repair. My wife also noted that the key fob was damaged. The car was returned, the problems highlighted and it was left with Jackson’s for a further 4 days. Upon collection the second time the faint finish was considerably better but they had no explanation for the damaged key. We were told to take the car to the main dealer and ask if the key could be repaired. If a repair was not possible then they would pay for the replacement part. When the dealer phone and told L E Jackson the price they replied that it was down to wear and tear and they would not cover the replacement.
I would recommend using an approved main dealer on modern cars with complex repair procedures.
