shoddy ripoff mechanical repair ;AVOID THIS GARAGE. pls read.
Horrific. AVOID.
I book my car in for a clutch replacement; took it in as agreed, was told they probably wont work on it til the next day, advised them that if I had it back by the 3rd day, that would be fine. On day 4 they phoned me to say they couldnt get the clutch kit; A week later , I called them; they had 'forgotten' to order it; parts ordered day 8; was told it would be the following week before working on it; day 12 was told the part was faulty; supposedly ordered a part from somewhere else (but I only have their say so on that) the car is supposedly 'repaired' day 19; I collect the morning of day 21. At that point I'm just glad to get the car back. I want rid of having anything to do with them at all at that point; but it gets worse now. A few days after driving, I find the dashboard lights, headlights, central locking and stearing lock coming on/off while driving, cutting in cutting out; I have an AA visit which shows that the earth cable from the negative battery terminal to the chasis has been damaged; instead of replacing the part, some fool decided to repair it with a plastic cable tie, and tape the repair over with masking tape. Now not only do I have at this point a potentially out of control car, but also a fire hazard where sparks could set the engine ablaze at any point; So the response from this Co, is going to be denying everything I suppose or blaming pre-existing damage. Well that doesnt wash,, any responsible garage doing any repair would advise of any dangerous issue needing attention especially when it would be OBVIOUS to the person doing the repair on that same engine area; to replace the clutch you have to remove the gearbox; you have to remove the earth, you have to disconnect the battery, the whole lot then reconnected together. And there was no pre-existing damage to any cable in the engine bay; no work had ever been carried out affecting those issues.
I was hoping to find a good local garage with a view to working on both our cars regularly, mot, services etc.
