Got all new discs and pads on front and back of my Toyota chr , last Friday, got it home and never used it over the weekend, done maybe around 4 miles Monday to place of work and back home, same on Tuesday but it had started sounding like metal to metal, looking through the wheel spokes, I could see some light scoring on
disc at back , thinking it must be a trapped stone or something similar, I reluctantly got trolley jack out of garage and wheel nut wrench etc, on taking of back wheel I could see and hear the problem was the one of the two clips that retain the pad lugs in place on the calliper were fitted wrong way round so therefore it was rubbing against disc, on checking other side back wheel, the two clips were in the wrong way and disc was also marked, I phoned the garage and sent pictures, there response was good, and I took it in Wednesday morning, again the assistant was helpful and I got out a couple of hours later, accepting the very slightly marked discs as eventually they will wear anyways and I hadn’t been offered anything else anyway, it drove fine but when I got home I looked again through spoke on wheel and one of the clips was still the wrong way, I thought a bout leaving it , but got angry so phoned and sent pictures, but so this time after asking if the General manager was in , but told he was on holiday got the Worksop supervisor , they offered to come drop of car on the Thursday morning but I said no as I had lost a bit of trust in the garage and would bring the car in myself, I got a nice welcome and was greeted by the supervisor, who done what I asked, I wanted all discs pads and retaining clips changed out for new, on the two back wheels I should add front brakes were also done but weren’t a problem as they were a different design, and didn’t have the same clips, He has assured me this matter will be addressed accordingly, whilst there I mentioned the inconvenience and frustration, and he did go out his way to make things as right as he could, but I have a service plan in place for my next three services, so hopefully I don’t have any other issues, I’m not an over picky person, hence I let the discs go first time round but luckily I know a fair bit a bout vehicles ?
