I bought an Auris TR 1.6 in April 2009. I noticed within a week a greasy substance over the wheel covers. It would not wash off with water.
I used a solvent in the end. I contacted the garage who decided all could be solved with hi pressure water jet. I told them I thought it must be the bearing lubricant. Then I started to get squealing from the brakes. The garage took the car and fitted pads instead of discs?. Nearly two years on and the wheel bearing squeal on cornering and I have got use to braking noises. The noises are intermittent depending on the road surface. I have paid for 3 years service but I have decided to get rid of the Auris as soon as possible. Apart from the wheels the car is not bad overall although the acceleration is awful considering it is 1.6 litre. The Toyota garage told me last year the car had to be recalled for a steering column problem but they have not contacted me. The car is due for a service in April and after that I will look to swap it.It has done 7000 miles. This is not a rant but just a warning to other Toyota Auris drivers.
