CQ20V
This is the first 80 Saloon I have owned and yes it is showing it's age but you cannot deny that it was well built and is still going strong. My version has the 1.6 ADA engine (101 bhp) and despite being abused for the last three years, I have given it a major clean and service and it is running as sweet any anything. 30+ MPG around town and 40+ on a run is not to be sniffed at. It is comfortable but won't break any speed or handling records. So far it has been 100% reliable (6 months and 6,000 miles - 150,000 done in total on this car). The boot is spacious and versions from the 2.0 upwards have split fold rear seats to facilitate long items. Mine is the base model but still has electric tilt and slide steel sunroof, electric adjust and heated mirrors. The bodies are galvanised and so rust is not an issue unless it's been banged and poorly repaired (stone chips aside). The 1.9TDi's are still very popular offering 90 bhp performance and 60+ mpg. Oh and they will run on veggie oil too!
